The 28-year-old Nigeria international has struggled for regular game time at Brentford this season, making just nine appearances across all competitions and yet to start a Premier League game under new manager Keith Andrews, prompting interest from several Championship clubs.

Coventry reach agreement

Coventry, currently managed by Frank Lampard, have moved into pole position over rivals Sheffield United and Birmingham City and have agreed terms, according to Fabrizio Romano

Onyeka originally joined Brentford in July 2021 from FC Midtjylland. His current contract with the club runs until summer 2027; however, he could have played his last game for the Bees, as Coventry also secured an option to buy.

Onyeka recently had a strong tournament with Nigeria at AFCON 2025, starting four games and helping the Super Eagles to a third-place finish, which has helped maintain his reputation despite limited opportunities in West London this season.
