Super Eagles star Moses Simon reunited with influential manager
Moses Simon is set for a familiar reunion after Paris FC appointed Antoine Kombouare as their new head coach.
The experienced tactician replaces Stéphane Gilli as the Parisian side battle to secure their Ligue 1 status.
Paris FC turn to ‘firefighter’ Kombouare
Paris FC confirmed Gilli’s departure following a difficult run that has left the newly promoted side 15th in Ligue 1, just six points above the relegation zone.
Kombouaré has signed until the end of the season, with the option of a one-year extension if survival is secured.
The 62-year-old, previously in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, FC Nantes and RC Strasbourg, was reportedly hesitant to take over mid-season. However, he was convinced by the ambitious project backed by the Arnault family and the Red Bull group.
Paris FC are winless since January 18, though they have lost only once in that stretch, drawing four matches, including a 1-1 stalemate with Toulouse FC.
Kombouare reunited with a trusted lieutenant
The appointment marks a third collaboration between Kombouare and Super Eagles star man Moses Simon.
The pair previously worked together during two separate spells at Nantes, where Simon was a key figure in the squad that won the Coupe de France in 2022.
Simon joined Paris FC in the summer of 2025, shortly after Kombouaré’s departure from Nantes. Now reunited, the Nigerian winger could once again play a central role as his former coach attempts to steer Paris FC clear of relegation danger.
