The Cottagers lost 1-0 to the Gunners on Saturday evening, with Iwobi, who has been one of their best players this season, making the starting lineup.
The Super Eagles star was unable to help his team clinch a win over Mikel Arteta’s men, with the set-piece merchant nicking a narrow win.
However, despite their team losing to the EPL league leaders, Iwobi put his name in the history books.
Iwobi’s record
Following his start against Arsenal, Iwobi has become the Nigerian player with the most appearances in the Premier League.
According to reports from the Premier League official website, Iwobi now has 299 appearances in the EPL and he is the only Nigerian with the most Premier League appearances.
The Nigerian international surpassed ex-Super Eagles player Shola Ameobi, who had racked up 298 appearances in England.
The former Arsenal man also beat Kanu Nwankwo (273), Yakubu Aiyegbeni (252) and Chelsea legend John Mikel Obi (249) in appearances.
He will be looking to make his 300th appearance and go further when Fulham take a trip to face Newcastle next weekend.
Meanwhile, the midfielder recently helped the Super Eagles clinch a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs during the international break.
