Nigerian international Umar Sadiq has expressed his excitement after winning the Goal of the Month award for his breathtaking backheel goal against Osasuna.
The striker edged out competition from Rayo Vallecano's Andrei Ratiu and CD Leganes Diego Garcia to claim the award.
What Sadiq said
In a heartfelt reaction shared by La Liga on social media, describing the moment he scored the goal as a biggest moment for him.
Sadiq said, "Thank you so much for voting me for the Goal of the Month, it's time for me to react to my Goal of the Month.
“A good cross from Canos, I was trying to go to the second post then the defender blocked me. Then I just saw the ball in my front, backheel, and I just went to celebrate."
The goal, scored in the 88th minute, secured an important point for Valencia in their 3-3 draw against Osasuna.
Sadiq emphasised the importance of the goal, stating, "Crucial one point because we were losing 3-2 and this 88th minute goal gave us one point, I am so happy. Scoring this goal motivates you."
Sadiq's nomination for the LaLiga Goal of the Month award in December recognised his exceptional performance against Osasuna, where he showcased his goal-scoring prowess with a remarkable goal from outside the box.
