The Super Eagles have received a major lift ahead of next month’s World Cup playoff, as Fulham manager Marco Silva has confirmed that Samuel Chukwueze is edging closer to full fitness.

The winger could feature this weekend against Wolves, marking his first appearance since starring for Nigeria in their 4-0 win over the Benin Republic.

Chukwueze back in contention as Fulham seek momentum

Marco Silva delivered the news during his pre-match press conference, offering hope to Fulham fans after a difficult run of form.

Chukwueze, who has not played since registering two assists for Nigeria, has missed key matches versus Arsenal, Newcastle and Wycombe in the EFL Cup.

Silva revealed improved squad availability overall, saying: “Andersen is in, Wilson and Smith Rowe are in contention. Muniz and Chukwueze could be in contention. Robinson is still out, Raul, we will have to assess tomorrow morning.”

With Fulham on a four-match losing streak in the league and struggling to create chances, Chukwueze’s return could add much-needed pace and unpredictability in attack.

Wolves sit at the bottom of the table with just two points from nine matches, giving the Cottagers a prime chance to reset and climb out of their slump. If passed fit, the former Villarreal star could play alongside fellow Nigerians Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi in a crucial fixture for the London side.

Boost for Nigeria ahead of World Cup showdown

Beyond Fulham’s immediate needs, this update will please Nigeria fans as Eric Chelle prepares for a decisive 2026 World Cup playoff against Gabon.

With Victor Osimhen firing in Turkey and other key players regaining fitness, Nigeria are building momentum at the perfect time.

Should Chukwueze get minutes against Wolves, it would boost his sharpness for national duty and reinforce confidence that he’s ready to resume his role as one of the team’s most dangerous attacking threats.
