Sunil Chhetri, India's most prolific scorer, has revealed he will retire from international football after the World Cup qualifier against Kuwait on June 6.

Chhetri spent most of his time in India, with short spells in Portugal and the MLS.

The 39-year-old announced via social media platform X

"One last game... for all our sakes...let's win the game and we can depart, happily," he said in the video.

Chhetri made a goalscoring debut for India against Pakistan in 2005 and has gone on to score 94 international goals making him the third-highest active international goalscorer after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Chhetri is also India's most-capped player having played 150 international matches.
