The incident took place in Mataró, a town near Barcelona, where Nasraoui resides. He was taken to the Can Ruti Hospital in Badalona.
Yamal's father under investigation
This Friday, Spanish media outlet Crónica Global, via Abola, has revealed new information, reporting that Mounir Nasraoui is now under investigation.
As part of the investigation led by Mataró's 3rd Investigating Court, the Barcelona forward's father has gone from victim to suspect.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. local time in a parking lot, where Nasraoui and a group of friends met with several young people to "resolve" an earlier altercation. This earlier incident involved the son and nephew of the accused allegedly splashing water on Yamal's father.
Following the incident, Nasraoui had to be calmed down by police officers while saying, "This can't be happening" and "We'll sort this out later."
According to the defendants' lawyer, what followed was a settling of scores. The situation escalated, and Nasraoui reportedly broke a young man's nose. Minutes later, that same individual allegedly used a knife to stab the footballer's father.
Crónica Global adds that one of Nasraoui's friends admitted that Yamal's father hit the young man who ultimately stabbed him. Nasraoui, initially presented solely as the victim, was summoned to testify as a suspect on July 21st.
