‘Some were talking nonsense’ - Turkish legend hits back at Osimhen's comparison with En-Nesyri
Osimhen has been an important player for Galatasaray since joining the club during the summer transfer window.
The Super Eagles star has scored six goals in all competitions this season, continuing from where he stopped last season.
Following his performance, Akın saved his highest praise for the Nigerian international, describing him in glowing terms and placing him at the pinnacle of strikers to have ever played in the league, seemingly in a hypothetical sense.
Akin speaks about Osimhen
Akın, speaking to Turkish media, lauded the impact of top-tier talent in the league, referencing discussions around players like Leroy Sané and Osimhen.
"They're questioning Leroy Sané's quality. I think that's a terrible thing to do. It's pure football ignorance," the 44-year-old began. "As long as Sané is willing, there's no one he can't get past. He is becoming very dangerous."
The conversation then shifted to comparisons between strikers, with Akın dismissing debates that attempted to downplay Osimhen's abilities.
"Even Osimhen was being debated. People were comparing Osimhen and En-Nesyri," he noted. "Some were talking nonsense, saying, 'En-Nesyri scores without penalties, while Osimhen gets more penalties.'"
"Osimhen, he's a strange beast. I think he's the greatest centre-forward the league has ever seen," Akın declared.
