Onyeka has reportedly attracted interest from multiple European clubs due to his limited role at Brentford this season.

The Super Eagles star has struggled to secure consistent playing time, making only 9 appearances across all competitions.

However, after his impressive performance at the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations tournament, he had been on the radar of a few clubs.

Onyeka eyed by Sheffield United

Speaking to the media before Sheffield United's upcoming match against Southampton, Wilder acknowledged the team's current midfield struggles and suggested that new additions could be made before their weekend fixture with Ipswich Town.

"It's going to be a struggle for Wednesday now. We're working our way towards the weekend," Wilder stated, as reported by Football League World.

When questioned directly about the links to Onyeka, the Blades' manager remained discreet but affirmed the club's recruitment efforts.

"Keep trying," Wilder said. "We're after somebody in the middle of the park, so there's a list of players that are there, and some are on the spot and some are miles off.

“And as I said last week, we work incredibly hard to try and get them over the line. We're still working incredibly hard to improve."

A potential move for the midfielder is a significant step to bolster Sheffield United's squad as they pursue promotion back to the Premier League next season.

Meanwhile, Onyeka has revealed the Premier League club he dreams of joining if he leaves Brentford.
