Of course, I want to join them — Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka makes transfer admission

Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka has openly declared that he would love to play for Manchester United.

The 28-year-old, who is currently playing an excellent role at AFCON 2025, made the admission as United continue to struggle with midfield imbalance after a massive £200m summer spending spree on attackers like Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.

Despite the heavy investment elsewhere, United’s failure to land a quality defensive midfielder, having pulled out of a deal for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, has left interim boss Michael Carrick with a thin midfield.

While the club remain keen on summer moves for high-cost targets like Adam Wharton, and Elliott Anderson, Onyeka could potentially be a low-cost option in the January window.

Onyeka, nicknamed "The Tank", has been in sensational form in Morocco, providing the steel and defensive cover that has allowed Nigeria’s creative players to flourish.

His partnership with Wilfred Ndidi has been the bedrock of Nigeria’s five-match winning streak, proving he can handle the intensity required for elite-level transition play.

When caught up with by a fan in Morocco and asked if he harbored ambitions of playing for United, Onyeka responded

“Of course I want to play for Manchester United!” he said.

Even when reminded that Ruben Amorim had recently departed, Onyeka remained undeterred: “Yeah, I know.”

While there’s no indication that Onyeka is a United target, his recent public remarks may make him worth keeping an eye on.
