Silent night for Chukwueze despite AC Milan’s triumph over Fiorentina

Fiorentina were coming from the back of qualifying for the next round of the Europa Conference League after eliminating Maccabi Haifa.

Samuel Chukwueze was given the nod in the starting lineup despite recently losing his mother to the cold hands of death.

Vincenzo Ikone Fiorentina's manager made seven changes to his side that played a 2-2 draw against Roma last time out in the Serie A.

AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli made four changes to his side that defeated Hellas Verona in their last Serie A game. 

Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze made the starting lineup for AC Milan after replacing Christian Pulisic.

The first half did not produce any surprises as both teams kept it cool but the second half was a different ball game.

AC Milan took the surprise lead shortly after the restart when Ruben Loftus-Cheek received the ball inside the box, reacted quickly and without any problems stabbed the ball low in the middle of the goal.

Fiorentina responded immediately with the equaliser when Alfred Duncan received a pass and without hesitation fired an unstoppable shot into the bottom left corner.

The goals were coming in quick succession, with AC Milan taking the lead again when Rafael Leao made a great solo run and pulled the trigger from inside the box, beating Pietro Terracciano with a strike into the bottom right corner. 

Despite the little contribution from Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze, AC Milan held tight to the lead and secured the win.
