‘Show a little respect’ - Messi’s club owner Beckham slams rival after their brutal post about Inter Miami
Inter Miami experienced a significant setback on Saturday, falling to a decisive 4-1 defeat at the hands of Minnesota United.
It was the first time they had lost a match by a margin of three or more goals since the arrival of their star player, Lionel Messi, in 2023.
The Herons marked their fourth defeat in a recent string of five matches. This series of losses underscores a period of significant underperformance for the team.
Beckham’s reaction
Following a dominant performance, Minnesota's social media team eagerly celebrated their victory after the game.
The club's Instagram post featured a picture of disappointed Miami players, accompanied by the caption, "Pink Phony Club".
A recent post referenced Miami's pink kit and used a play on words from Chappell Roan's popular song "Pink Pony Club".
Beckham, co-owner and founder of the club in 2018, reacted unfavourably, responding on Instagram: "Show a little respect, @mnufc. Be elegant in triumph."
Prior to the game, Minnesota fans displayed a banner directed at Miami, stating: "History over Hype, Culture over Cash."
Beckham responded after Minnesota's official account shared the image, "Respect over everything, @mnufc."
Lionel Messi scored the only goal for his team, taking his goal tally to 44 goals for his club in the nearly two years since he joined.
