American track stars Sha’Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman have entered not guilty pleas to charges stemming from a dramatic traffic stop in Florida last week.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, their attorney, Alisia Adamson, filed the pleas on Monday on behalf of both athletes.

The incident occurred in Winter Garden, Florida, when police stopped Richardson for allegedly driving at an excessive speed. Both sprinters were arrested and later released on bond the same evening.

High-Speed Stop Leads to Richardson's Arrest

Police records detail that an officer in an unmarked vehicle clocked Richardson's grey Aston Martin traveling at 104 miles per hour. After being pulled over, Richardson reportedly explained that a low tire pressure warning was active and suggested her phone might have inadvertently altered the car's driving mode. The officer did not accept her explanation.

Despite her plea to avoid arrest, in which she stated, "I am a law-abiding citizen," Richardson was taken into custody for dangerous excessive speeding and issued multiple traffic citations.

Coleman Arrested for Obstruction and Paraphernalia

Christian Coleman arrived at the scene while the officer was processing Richardson's paperwork. Police reported that Coleman approached the officer and, despite being instructed to return to his vehicle, continued to question the stop and defend Richardson's speed.

According to the arrest affidavit, Coleman's refusal to provide identification when requested led to his arrest for resisting an officer without violence, a misdemeanor in Florida. A subsequent search of Coleman's Jeep uncovered a glass smoking device in the center console, which police said contained a small amount of a green leafy substance. As a result, Coleman was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both Richardson, 25, and Coleman, 29, posted bond and were released later that night. This is not the first public incident involving the pair; last year, they were involved in a physical altercation at an airport, which resulted in Richardson's arrest for domestic assault.
