Senegal blow out Cameroon to claim AfroBasket 2025 Bronze medal
Senegal secured a resounding 98-72 victory over Cameroon in the bronze medal game of the FIBA AfroBasket 2025 tournament, held in Angola.
Senegal were touted as favorites after knocking out Nigeria's D'Tigers in the quarterfinals.
The Lions suffered a setback in the semifinal, falling to Mali, while Cameroon was eliminated by the host nation, Angola, in their respective semifinal matchup.
Senegal defeats Cameroon
Senegal asserted their dominance, taking the first quarter 28-14 and extending their lead in the second quarter with a 19-12 scoreline.
The Lions had a commanding 21-point advantage at halftime and continued to strangle the game in the third quarter, outscoring Cameroon 31-22.
Cameroon mounted a late rally, winning the fourth quarter 24-20, Senegal held on to secure a decisive 26-point victory and claim the bronze medal.
The standout performance came from Jean-Jacques Boissy was the driving force behind Senegal's success with 40 points, seven assists and 5 rebounds.
The performance surpassed the previous AfroBasket single-game scoring record of 38 points, set by Nigeria's Chamberlain Oguchi in 2007.
Boissy as supported by Brancou Badio, who contributed 18 points and 5 rebounds, and Ibou Badji, who added 12 points and 7 rebounds.
