Salah will leave Liverpool — Ex-Reds star says Egyptian forward is going to Saudi Arabia

Former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson believes star forward Mohamed Salah will leave the Reds at the end of the season upon the expiration of his contract. 

The 32-year-old was linked with an exit from Liverpool in 2022 but signed a renewal until the summer of 2025. 

Since this last extension, the Saudi Professional League has become a viable option for global superstars, and Salah's profile, and faith have placed him on the radar of the big money spenders in the Gulf.

He has since been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, and with his Liverpool contract set to expire at the end of the season, it is believed his next destination is the Middle East. Liverpool legend Glen Johnson shares similar sentiments, as he believes the Egypt international will leave the club come season's end.  

Salah is one of the treble of Liverpool stars whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season. 

Johnson, however, believes the other two, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander Arnold will sign renewals, while the former Basel winger will leave. 

“I believe Mo will leave and the other two will stay,” Johnson said. Each of them are going to have an endless list of clubs that will want to sign them if they’re available as a free agent.

 “If Liverpool know that any of them aren’t going to sign a new contract, then I believe they’ve been foolish to not cash in. You can’t have players of their calibre walking out on a free.”

Meanwhile, Salah recently sent a subtle message to the club's hierarchy, as he told reporters that he has yet to be approached for a renewal.
