Russia vs Nigeria: Venue, date announced as Super Eagles clash with Nashi Parni in friendly
The Russia Football Union has announced that the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow will host the highly anticipated friendly match between Russia and Nigeria's Super Eagles on June 6.
The friendly will mark the first-ever meeting between the two teams at the senior level.
The Luzhniki Stadium, a historic venue, last hosted Russia on September 1, 2021, for a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Croatia.
Russia, led by Valery Karpin, will look to make a strong impression against the Super Eagles.
Before the friendly, Nigeria will participate in the Unity Cup, an invitational tournament featuring Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The Super Eagles' first match will be against Ghana at the Gtech Community Stadium in London on May 28.
Russia's fixtures also include a friendly against Belarus in Minsk on June 10.
The match against Nigeria presents an opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their squads ahead of major competitions.
