Russell Wilson: NFL star compares himself to Jesus, opens up on fatherhood and marriage to Ciara

In a recent revelation on the I AM ATHLETE podcast, Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, opened up about a profound conversation he had with God regarding his decision to embrace the role of stepfatherhood to Ciara's son, Future Zahir - named after his father and American rapper Future.

Wilson,35, likened his journey to that of Joseph, stepfather to Jesus, emphasizing the divine nature of his calling.

"I remember leaving that night and God said, saying to me, 'Raising this child it's going to be your responsibility.' I prayed to God, asking 'Are you sure this is what you want me to do?' He said, 'Son, this is for you.'"

Drawing parallels to the biblical narrative of Joseph, Wilson embraced his role as a stepfather with humility and reverence.

He reflected on Joseph's journey, highlighting the profound love and dedication required to nurture a child who was not biologically his own.

"Even Jesus himself, like Joseph, he was a stepdad. I was like, 'Okay.' He wasn't biologically his. So okay God, you're going to give me this opportunity to love the way that you were loved, the love that you want us to love."
