Rulani Mokwena Shares Pitso Mosimane's Impact on His Career
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach reflected on the importance of giving people opportunities, explaining that talent alone is never enough without someone willing to take a chance.
Rulani Mokwena added that potential can exist in many areas, whether in business, sports administration, coaching, or journalism, but without the right opening, it can never truly be realised.
Mokwena highlighted his own career as an example, noting that he owes much of his progress to Coach Pitso Mosimane, who trusted him and provided the platform to grow.
He stressed that everyone deserves such opportunities at some point in their life, and it becomes the responsibility of those in positions of guidance to help nurture and support others so that their abilities can be fully developed.
“The only thing potential needs is an opportunity. Potential could be in business. Could be as a sports administrator. It could be as a sports coach,” Rulani Mokwena shared.
“It could be as a journalist. Somebody had to give you a chance. I'm sitting here today because Coach Pitso gave me a chance. And everybody in life deserves a chance. And then it is our responsibility to assist those players to fulfil their potential.”
Rulani Mokwena was speaking after MC Alger secured a 2-1 victory over Al Hilal in their CAF Champions League encounter. They are now focused on their final group stage match against Mamelodi Sundowns.
