Ruben Amorim tells one Man United player what to improve
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has stated that their summer signing, Matheus Cunha, still has room for improvement, noting that the 27-year-old was struggling due to criticism on social media.
What Amorim said
Speaking ahead of their Premier League clash against West Ham tomorrow, Amorim expressed his excitement at Cunha’s return from injury, but noted that the Brazil international had room for growth.
"I think he has more levels to go,” Amorim said, per Goal. “He's in the different club, different pressure, but I think he copes with that really well.
“He was struggling because he was not scoring, and because of social media views, he was thinking too much about the numbers, but the influence that he has in the team is so important for us. But I think I think Cunha has so much to grow defensively and offensively.”
Cunha at Manchester United
Cunha joined Red Devils from Wolves last summer for a reported £62.5m, signing a long-term deal until 2030. Since his arrival at Old Trafford, however, he has struggled for consistent output despite performing at a high level.
Cunha scored his first United goal in the 4–2 win over Brighton in October but has otherwise endured a goal drought and limited starts, with the forward missing games through a training injury in late November.
