Manchester United have finally agreed a deal with Sporting for manager Ruben Amorim to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have agreed a deal with Sporting Lisbon for Ruben Amorim to take over as new manager, replacing former boss Erik ten Hag.

As part of the deal, Amorim will stay with Sporting for their next three games, including Tuesday's UEFA Champions League clash against Manchester City.

Amorim's first game as United manager will be away at Ipswich Town on November 24.

So, why the delay? According to the Athletic, Sporting were determined to keep Amorim in charge for this crucial run of games, and United respected his wishes and commitment to the Portuguese club.

The 39-year-old coach has a €10million release clause in his contract, plus a 30-day notice period, and the Red Devils delegation led by Omar Berrarda agreed to pay an extra €1million to get him on board earlier.

Interim boss Ruud Van Nistelrooy will be tasked with leading the team for this weekend's big clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The former PSV boss started his interim tenure with an impressive 5-2 demolition of Leicester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
