What Chivu said

Chivu, a former Inter defender and Romania international, sees Lookman’s ability to play both on the wings and centrally as a tactical advantage that could propel the Nerazzurri to domestic and European dominance.

Lookman is a complete attacker, he can stretch defences wide, create chances through the middle, and score goals. That kind of versatility is gold in modern football,” he told the club media.

Inter target to sign Lookman

Meanwhile, Inter Milan have set their sights on Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, but his current club Atalanta’s €50 million asking price has become a stumbling block to what could be a blockbuster summer transfer.

According to a detailed report by Corriere dello Sport, Inter are desperate to add more firepower to their attacking line ahead of the 2025/26 season, and Lookman is seen as the perfect fit.

However, Atalanta’s reluctance to negotiate on their price tag for the Nigerian international has caused a stir in the Italian transfer market.

Lookman, who still has two years left on his contract, is reportedly open to the move to Inter. But Atalanta, fresh off a historic UEFA Europa League title triumph, are refusing to let him go on the cheap.

“Atalanta are in no mood to lower their €50 million (£43m/$58m) demand,” Corriere dello Sport reports.

However, Inter are not the only club chasing Lookman’s signature. Arsenal have also identified him as a possible attacking reinforcement, while Serie A champions Napoli are said to be preparing a bid as they gear up to offload Victor Osimhen, who is expected to join Turkish giants Galatasaray this summer.

Napoli see Lookman as a natural fit to fill the void that Osimhen would leave behind. With similar physicality, flair, and Nigerian heritage, the move would be symbolic and strategic.
