‘Respect is fundamental for everyone’ - Ronaldo’s coach urges stars to respect Saudi cultures
Al-Nassr head coach Jorge Jesus has stressed the importance of cultural awareness among foreign players in Saudi Arabia, stating that stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo must continue to respect the kingdom’s traditions and religious values.
What Jesus said
Speaking at a post-match press conference following Al-Nassr 4-0 victory over with Al-Hazem in the Saudi Pro League encounter, the Portuguese tactician highlighted the responsibility that comes with playing abroad.
“Ronaldo, I, and all the foreign players have to understand and respect Saudi culture, and that’s exactly what we always do,” Jesus said.
He added, “When you’re in a country that isn’t your own, you need to know how to respect its cultures and religions.
“When you represent a club here, you also represent the country and its values. Respect is fundamental for everyone.”

Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr in December 2022, has been central to the rapid global growth of the Saudi Pro League.
However, the influx of global stars has occasionally sparked debate about how foreign players adapt to local customs.
