REPORT: Mourinho to help Chelsea by signing unwanted Premier League forward

Chelsea loanee Raheem Sterling may receive a surprising opportunity to join Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce this summer.

After a disappointing loan spell at Arsenal, where he has netted just one goal and provided five assists in 27 appearances, the Englishman is set to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. 

The agreement with the North Londoners did not include an option for a permanent move, leaving the England international with two years remaining on his Blues contract. 

However, the Blues are reportedly looking to sell Sterling ahead of next season. 

As reported by Takvim, Turkish side Fenerbahce, facilitated by intermediaries, have expressed interest in acquiring the player, with Mourinho feeling optimistic about the potential transfer. 

Despite the Englishman’s diminished status, the Blues reportedly want a higher fee than the £47.5m they paid Manchester City for him in 2022. 

The Englishman had relatively decent overall numbers, scoring 19 goals and 15 assists for Chelsea, but his place in the squad lessened after the appointment of Enzo Maresca as head coach last summer. 

Sterling could feature in Arsenal’s penultimate Premier League clash against Newcastle United this weekend.
