The rumours linking Cole Palmer to Manchester United have grown louder in recent days, with reports suggesting the attacking midfielder could be fed up with life at Stamford Bridge.

According to a report from The Express, United are looking to capitalise on Chelsea’s complicated financial situation and ongoing squad restructuring.

While the West London club views Palmer as their "crown jewel," the report suggests United believe a massive multi-player swap could tempt the Blues into a deal that would otherwise be priced out of the market.

The first name on the table is reportedly Marcus Rashford, who is currently revitalised during a productive loan spell at Barcelona.

Rashford has looked like a new man in Spain, showing shades of the player who broke through a decade ago. While he is reportedly keen to stay at the Nou Camp permanently, Chelsea might view the 28-year-old as the clinical, versatile forward they have been missing.

The other names involved are midfielders Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount, who are yet to live up to expectations at Old Trafford.

In Mainoo's case, things have changed in the last few weeks, though, with Ruben Amorim no longer in charge. The midfielder was brought back into the side by Darren Fletcher and has continued to be trusted by Michael Carrick.

Palmer is reportedly unsettled at Stamford Bridge, with reports suggesting the 23-year-old is desperate to reunite with his family and close friends in Manchester.

While a move is highly unlikely in January, things could change in the summer.
