The 23-year-old defender has been a target for a number of clubs, and interest further spiked after his impressive Qatar 2022 outing for Croatia, helping them clinch bronze.

The Premier League champions are now said to be in negotiations for him, as they look to bolster their defence despite a treble-winning season.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Pep Guardiola-coached side have agreed on personal terms with the Croatia international, with the Spanish manager said to be a big fan.

Leipzig will reportedly not sell him for any fee below €100 million, as they want him to be the most expensive defender in history.

The Cityzens are expected to lose Aymeric Laporte this season, generating a necessity for the Gvardiol signing.

They have already reached an agreement with Chelsea for Mateo Kovacic and have reportedly lost Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona.

Walker has one year left on his deal at the Etihad, and there have been reported talks between the player's camp and Bayern Munich regarding a move.
