Report: Liverpool plan selling star forward to keep Salah

Liverpool Football Club is reportedly considering the sale of Luis Diaz this summer, contingent on securing a new contract for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian star is nearing the end of his current deal at Anfield and has garnered interest from Saudi Arabia for a potential high-value transfer. 

However, Liverpool is determined to secure fresh terms with the prolific 31-year-old forward to keep him at the club.

In addition to Salah, Liverpool is prioritising new contracts for key players Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, channeling funds towards securing their long-term futures at Anfield. 

As the club shifts direction under new management following Jurgen Klopp's departure, sales could be authorised to facilitate this strategic realignment.

According to The Sun, Luis Diaz is among those who could be offloaded, with any offers for the 27-year-old set to be considered. Several Spanish teams are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of the fleet-footed winger.

Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 and has since made 82 appearances for the club, netting 21 goals. Despite his contributions, Diaz has faced injury setbacks and personal challenges, including the kidnapping of his parents in October 2023. 

A fresh start could be welcomed as Liverpool aims to secure a transfer fee that can be reinvested strategically elsewhere in the squad.
