REPORT: Key Arsenal defender suffers suspected knee injury

Arsenal's victory over Leicester City was overshadowed by a potential injury to defender Riccardo Calafiori, who was seen in tears during post-match celebrations, according to Teamnewsandtix via Now Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s team needed late goals in second-half stoppage time to seal a 4-2 win over the Foxes after a James Justin brace stunned the Emirates Stadium crowd after Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard notched two first-half goals to put Arsenal 2-0 up at the interlude. 

The Gunners already face a growing injury crisis, with key players like captain Martin Odegaard and summer signing Mikel Merino sidelined. Takehiro Tomiyasu is also out, and Ben White missed the Leicester match due to injury.

Calafiori, a summer signing from Bologna, has impressed since his arrival, notably scoring a stunning goal against Manchester City. However, the 22-year-old has had his own struggles with injury, having recently returned from a calf problem.

According to reports, the Italian may have suffered a knee injury at the end of the Leicester game. This potential setback could further limit Arteta's defensive options, particularly with Ben White doubtful.

With a crucial Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain looming on Tuesday, the Arsenal manager may be forced to turn to Jakub Kiwior to fill the void in defence, even if he offers a different skill set than the attack-minded Calafiori.

The Gunners hope to notch back-to-back Champions League victories when they take on Luis Enrique’s PSG at the Emirates midweek.
