The 22-year-old, who is currently at Wrexham, is eligible to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

However, he is yet to make a decision on his nationality as NFF begins plans to convince the goalkeeper to join the Super Eagles.

Okonkwo yet to decide international future

Following the news spreading around social media about the possibility of Okonkwo playing for Nigeria, his camp has decided to clear the air.

Shina Oludare revealed on X that he reached out to Arthur Okonkwo’s camp regarding his international future with Nigeria.

His camp said, “I know there have been stories in the press about Arthur and representing Nigeria, but this has all come from unofficial sources, so it is not something we wish to speak publicly about at the moment.”

The Super Eagles are in dire need of goalkeeping reinforcement, especially after the underwhelming performances in recent outings.

If the goalkeeper pledges his international future to the Super Eagles, he will join other notable players with Nigerian heritage, such as Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, and Ademola Lookman.
