President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s horse ‘Renewed Hope’ triumphed in a four-day equine competition that ended last Saturday in Kaduna.
The president's horse competed in the ‘Division ThoroughBreed’ 10 furlongs or 2,000 metres race of the Hope Renewed 1st Anniversary Horse Racing Derby and came out on top.
What happened
According to a report by NAN, relayed by the Vanguard, the competition was organised by the Horse Racing Federation of Nigeria (HRFN) and ran for four days, from Thursday to Saturday.
The competition was coordinated by the president of the federation, Alhaji Mustapha Abubakar-Bida, the Sarkin Dawakin Nupe.
The closing ceremony was graced by a fair share of dignitaries: the Etsu Nupe, who also doubles as the grand patron of the federation, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, was in attendance, as were the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland and a representative from the Emir of Gwandu.
Placements and prizes
Tinubu's horse emerged victorious, and as a reward, was presented a cup, a saloon and a ₦100,000 cash prize. A horse named ‘Sarauinya’ came in second and was awarded ₦1 million.
