Rashford out of Man United’s Liverpool squad through ‘illness’ amid Osimhen swap rumours

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford will miss the Red Devils’ clash against Liverpool after being struck with an illness, according to boss Ruben Amorim.

The English forward has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford after implying that he wanted to leave the club and has missed out on five matches in a row before Liverpool.

Speaking ahead of the crucial encounter against Liverpool, Amorim revealed that Rashford would continue his absence from the Manchester United squad when the Red Devils travel to Anfield, this time due to illness.

Amorim stated to the press, “Marcus is ill and is not training. I think he's going to be out. The situation is still the same, he’s like all the other players.”

The match against Liverpool will be the sixth Manchester United fixture that Rashford will miss out on, having been left out of the squad on four occasions and remaining on the bench for another one against Newcastle.

Manchester United have not fared particularly well without Rashford, losing four of the matches that the England international has missed out on.

With Rashford missing so many matches and his recent interview about wanting a new challenge, it is becoming clear that the Manchester United academy graduate’s time at Old Trafford is coming to an end.

Rashford has already been linked to a swap deal that would take him to Napoli and bring Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen to Old Trafford.

Although concrete talks have not been reported between the parties, Rashford’s latest exclusion, although linked to an illness, could be seen as further proof that his time at Manchester United is up.

A move to Napoli could help revamp Rashford’s career, as it has done for former Red Devils’ teammate Scott McTominay, who has enjoyed a resurgence under Antonio Conte since his summer move to Naples.
