The Cathedral in Enugu isn’t just a stadium, it’s a theatre of dominance, a place where visiting teams quickly learn that hope does not travel well.

And for Wikki Tourist, the visitors on Sunday for matchday 26 in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, history suggests this won’t be a sightseeing trip.

Enugu Rangers come into this clash with form, momentum, and home advantage firmly in their favour.

Three wins and a draw, in the last outing against Abia Warriors who face Remo Stars next in their last five matches, coupled with nine home wins and three draws in 12 matches make the Cathedral a fortress.

With 28 goals scored and 20 conceded, Rangers have balanced attack, led by two of the top three scorers this season, and defence, enough to unsettle a side that struggles on the road.

Wiki, meanwhile, arrive with a fragile record away from home in the NPFL this season. One win and seven defeats in 12 games, combined with 25 goals conceded paint a picture of vulnerability.

Their last six visits to Enugu have ended in defeats, with the Flying Antelopes scoring goals, an average of 2.5 goals per game, while the Tourists managed just four in that run.

Even a small spark of confidence in their unbeaten run over the last four matches is unlikely to withstand the Cathedral’s weight.

Wikki Tourist main man Jonathan Mairiga has scored 6 goals this season.

For the hosts, Rangers, the stakes are clear: prove that home advantage is more than a statistic and maintain pressure in the title race.

For Wikki, the visitors, the mission is survival, to leave Enugu unscathed and with their heads held high rather than another lesson in dominance.

When Rangers play at home, there are rarely gentle exits. And for Wikki Tourist, the Cathedral could very well be a service of songs this Sunday.
