President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, following their historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title win.
Upon returning from Morocco on Monday, the Super Falcons were received by President Tinubu and the First Lady.
The President rewarded them with $100,000, a 3-bedroom apartment, and a national honour.
What Tinubu said
In a message shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, President Tinubu praised the team’s remarkable feat and their unifying impact on the nation.
"You inspired the entire nation. You are the pride of Nigeria. On behalf of all Nigerians, home and abroad, we say Thank You, our Super Falcons @NGSuper_Falcons — 10x Champions of Africa," he posted.
The post was accompanied by a highlight video capturing the Falcons' journey through the tournament and messages of admiration from Nigerians across the globe.

Super Falcons' continental dominance
The Super Falcons defeated hosts Morocco 3-2 in a dramatic final to clinch the title, reinforcing their dominance in African women's football.
The victory marks Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON crown, the most by any nation and reaffirms their status as the queens of African football.
President Tinubu’s reception of the team at the State House earlier this week also served as a major morale boost, as captain Rasheedat Ajibade emphasised the need for better infrastructure and long-term planning to build on their success.
Fresh off their WAFCON victory, they now set their sights on becoming FIFA Women’s World Cup champions.
“We want to be global contenders, not just local champions. We have dominated in Africa, and it is time to take it to the world stage,” Ajibade declared.
The Falcons will parade the newly designed WAFCON trophy in Lagos today.
