Liverpool suffered a shock 1-0 defeat against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, March 11.

The Reds were hoping to build on their 7-0 thrashing of Manchester United last weekend but were instead stunned with Jurgen Klopp’s men suffering a setback in their race for Champions League football next season.

Despite the visitor’s dominance on the ball, the Reds found themselves trailing at half time after Phillip Billing opened the scoring for the hosts in the 26th minute.

Jurgen Klopp’s men could not find a way to break down the Bournemouth defense as they sought an instant response but were forced to go into the break trailing by a lone goal.

Liverpool started the sceond period brightly as expected, creating chances and asking the crucial questions.

The Reds soon got a goldne opportunity to level matters in the 67th minute after VAR spotted a foul in the box.

However Mohamed Salah stepped up two minutes later and blazed his penalty awfully wide of the post to deny the visitors a chance to launch a comeback in that instance.

Liverpool would create chances subsequently but the Cherries also looked to respond looking dangerous on the counter attacks.

Salah’s miss proved costly for Jurgen Klopp’s men after 90 minutes as the hosts celebrated a 1-0 win against the fifth-placed Reds.

The win fo Bournemouth has now moved them up to 16th place on the summit while Liverpool still trail fourth place Tottenham by three points.
