'Please give us a rest' - Mondo Duplantis gets sarcastic warning from main sponsor after soaring to 13th career World Record
Swedish Pole Vaulter Mondo Duplantis currently enjoys the privileges of breaking his world records at almost every one of his meets, but his main sponsors are starting to get bored and have required a 'rest'.
At the Gyulai Istvan Memorial in Budapest on August 12, the reigning World and Olympic champion soared to his 13th career World Record (WR), clearing the height of 6.29m.
Breaking the World Record is one thing... but breaking it 13 TIMES?! 🤯🤯🤯

It was his third time breaking his WR this season, first with 6.27m in February, and then increasing it to 6.28m in front of his home crowd at the Stockholm Diamond League in June.
With another masterful performance in Budapest, Duplantis is unbeaten in the event in three years and remains the favourite to defend his world title in Tokyo this summer.

Puma reacts to Mondo Duplantis 13th World Record
However, despite his WR-breaking performances continually engraving his name in the history books as arguably the greatest to do the event, it comes at a cost. Not for him, but his main sponsor Puma, paying huge sums as bonuses every time he sets a new WR.
Having had enough with his 13th WR, Puma reacted with a sarcastic comment on Instagram: "Please give us a rest."
Duplantis has been Puma's star ambassador in the field events since he turned professional, and they've enjoyed a healthy relationship, supporting his dreams through the years.
The comment was a light-hearted, sarcastic remark, reflecting their appreciation for the visibility he brings to the brand each time he breaks the world record.
