Jamaica's National Stadium running track is undergoing a new look for the new season ahead of Michael Johnson's highly anticipated $30m Grand Slam Track (GST) League in April.

The 35,000-capacity masterpiece will host the first leg of the league’s first Slam set for April 4-6, 2025.

With less than a month to the start of the GST League, the track at Kingston Stadium is being resurfaced with the vibrant black, green, and gold colors of the Jamaican flag.

According to reports, the new surface will be from Rekortan. However, there's no word of the material yet (the previous was a Regupol AG surface), but its expected times run on it will be fast as always.

Pictures that have surfaced online show the changeover zones will be colored yellow or gold, the rest of the track will be green, and the field areas in black.

Some Jamaican track stars registered for the prestigious GST League include women's 100mH champion Ackera Nugent, sprint sensation Ackeem Blake, and other world stars such as Olympic champions Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Gabby Thomas, and Masai Russell.

Grand Slam Track, created by four-time Olympic gold medalist Johnson, will feature four track events - AKA Slams, where signed Racers and appearing Challengers will compete head-to-head in two events over the two-day Slams.

Racers will receive base compensation for competing in each Slam and can earn additional prize money based on their performances. 96 total athletes (48 Racers and 48 Challengers) are expected to compete in each Grand Slam with a prize pot of $12.6 million and the category winners of the Slam will win $100,000.

Other cities for the big meet are: Miramar/Miami, Florida at the Ansin Sports Complex from May 2nd - 4th, Philadelphia from May 30th - June 1st, and Los Angeles the final Slam city from June 27th - 29th.
