Out for some time — Slot confirms big injury for Liverpool ahead of Chelsea clash

Liverpool's 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray in midweek left the team with some bumps and bruises, as the Reds are set to be without star goalkeeper Alisson Becker for a few weeks.

However, it is not all bad news for the Anfield side, with manager Arne Slot confirming that attacking duo Hugo Ekitike and Federico Chiesa are set to return to training and may be available to face Chelsea.

Ekitike limped off during the Reds’ 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray, while Chiesa did not even make the squad for the trip to Turkey.

However, the team will be without Alisson, who is set for an extended layoff after suffering a hamstring injury.

Speaking to the media on Friday morning, Slot revealed: “Ekitike and Chiesa will be back in training today, but we expect Alisson will be out for some time.”

The manager gave a cautious timeline for the Brazilian’s return, confirming he will miss the international break and likely the match that follows.

“I’d be surprised if Alisson’s ready for the first game after the international break.”

Liverpool will be desperate to get back to winning ways after suffering back-to-back defeats for the first time this season.
