With a July 15 deadline looming and Napoli holding firm on his €75 million release clause, the Nigerian striker’s permanent switch to Galatasaray hangs in the balance.

Osimhen gives Galatasaray green light, but Napoli prove stubborn

After a sensational loan season in Turkey, where Osimhen racked up 37 goals in 41 games and helped Galatasaray claim a stunning league and cup double the 26-year-old Super Eagles star has reportedly accepted a permanent offer from the Istanbul giants.

Despite strong interest from Saudi Arabia and a comeback pitch from Napoli, Osimhen has chosen to remain at Galatasaray, turning down a €30 million-a-year deal from Al Hilal and opting instead for a more modest but still impressive €15–16 million annual salary in Turkey.

Earlier reports confirmed the striker’s intent to stay with the Lions, but while Galatasaray has passed the critical first step, securing Osimhen’s commitment, the real challenge lies in negotiating with Napoli.

Clock ticking as negotiations stall over €75 million clause

The Serie A champions are demanding full payment of the €75 million release clause, and they are not open to creative discounts. Galatasaray, hoping for a structured deal or small reduction, must now act fast before the clause expires on July 15.

With clubs outside Serie A allowed to trigger Osimhen’s €75 million buyout until mid-July, Galatasaray are under pressure to finalise terms or risk losing their star forward to another European giant.

Osimhen is reportedly satisfied with Galatasaray’s offer, which matches what he would earn if Napoli extended his current deal. However, the transfer now hinges on how much wiggle room Napoli will allow.

Galatasaray must move quickly with time running out and other clubs monitoring the situation; they must return to the table with a significantly improved financial proposal. Anything less, and Osimhen’s Turkish fairy tale could be over before it truly begins.
