The Nigerian striker says he’s exactly where he belongs, returning to the club he calls home after a stunning season on loan.

'I’m back in the place I love' — Osimhen speaks after Galarasaray move

Victor Osimhen’s bond with Galatasaray runs deeper than stats or salary sheets, and the 26-year-old made that loud and clear in his first official words since signing permanently.

Speaking to the club's website, Osimhen said: “I love Galatasaray so much. I don’t know how to describe what I feel right now. I’m so excited. I’m back in the place I love.

“I have a deep connection with this club, this city, these people. That’s why I fought so hard to come back here,” he said. “I still live with that feeling, I still play with a purpose.”

It’s no surprise, then, that Osimhen made it clear he’s playing for the badge, adding, “I want to give my best to the fans, and I’m truly happy here.”

Although he won’t be joining Galatasaray’s preseason camp immediately, the club is counting on him to lead their attack in both domestic and European campaigns this season.

Osimhen receives a welcome fit for a king

If Osimhen had any doubts about how much he means to Galatasaray fans, they were wiped away the moment he landed. According to reports in Turkish media, over 10,000 supporters gathered at Istanbul Airport to welcome their hero, breaking club records for a player arrival.

The scenes were electric, with flags waving, songs echoing, and an entire city celebrating. Galatasaray even live-streamed his flight, heightening the frenzy before his grand entrance.

After joining on loan in September 2024, Osimhen tore through defences, scoring 37 goals and providing 8 assists in just 41 appearances. His performance made the €75 million permanent move from Napoli inevitable, and fans didn’t hold back in showing their gratitude.

Club president Dursun Ozbek called the moment “historic,” confirming a lavish ceremony at RAMS Park to officially unveil their superstar. Osimhen signed a three-year deal reportedly worth nearly €16 million per season, and judging by the welcome he received, every penny already feels worth it.
