Onome Ebi appeals for development of women’s football in Secondary school

The Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi has appealed for grassroots development of women’s football in the country.

She stated that secondary school football needed to receive considerable attention, adding that academies should be harmonized and well coordinated.

She said, “It is pertinent that we need to decentralize the culture of having the base and pinnacle of football just when the players get to the national teams.

“We must begin to look for those players who are in our schools and are young. We must expand the scope of participation to the young girls,” she said.

Pulse Sports reports that the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand and held between July 20 and August 20.

The Super Falcons are in Group B alongside; Canada, Ireland, and Australia at the FIFA Women's World Cup.

The Falcons will play their World Cup opener in Group B on July 21 against Canada in Melbourne, the second game on July 27 against host Australia in Brisbane, and the last group game on July 31 against Ireland in Brisbane.

However, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee member, Aisha Falode, unveiled the FIFA Women's World Cup trophy in Abuja.
