The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has raised the stakes for the ongoing 2025 NWFL Premiership Super 6 with a total prize pool of ₦24.5 million, reflecting a renewed push to professionalise women’s football in the country.
For the third consecutive year, according to The Lagos Voice, the Super 6 champions will walk away with ₦10 million, while the second and third-placed teams will now receive ₦6 million and ₦4 million, respectively, both representing an increase of ₦1 million from the previous season.
However, the biggest change in the prize structure comes at the lower end of the table. The bottom three teams, previously awarded ₦500,000 each, will now get ₦1.5 million apiece, tripling last season's earnings in a move meant to strengthen financial support across all participating clubs.

NWFL Chairperson Nkechi Obi emphasised the broader vision behind the updated rewards structure.
“We’re not just celebrating the winners, we’re supporting every team that has earned the right to compete at this level,” Obi said.
She continued, “This revised prize package is part of our deliberate strategy to elevate the women’s game in Nigeria and create an environment where every club can thrive.”
She added that the enhanced incentives serve a dual purpose: to inspire excellence and also to cushion the financial demands associated with top-tier competition.
“By increasing the financial rewards, especially for the bottom three, we’re reinforcing our commitment to professionalising the women’s game and encouraging more investment at the club level,” she noted.
In addition to the financial boost, the Super 6 champions will claim Nigeria’s solitary ticket to the WAFU Zone B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League, Africa’s elite club competition.
A strong performance there could also see the team earn a berth at the inaugural FIFA Women’s Club World Cup set for next year.
