Remember Atlanta '96? These two legends helped write one of the greatest chapters in Nigerian football history, and now they're teaming up again to drag the People's Elephant back to the top.

Kanu, who has come under heavy criticism, wasted no time backing his old mate, declaring absolute confidence in Okechukwu's ability to shake things up at the club.

"The Chairman congratulated Uche Okechukwu on his new role and wished him success, expressing strong confidence in his ability to deploy his vast experience, integrity, and deep knowledge of the game to help steer the club to greater heights."

And this isn't just a nostalgia trip, folks. Enyimba mean business.

"The Chairman further expressed the belief of the club's leadership that Uche Okechukwu's rich understanding of football administration, elite competition, and player development will play a key role in advancing Enyimba FC's long term sporting vision and returning the club to the pinnacle of domestic and continental football."

WHAT A CV!

Let's talk credentials. Okechukwu's not just some ex-player looking for a gig, this man's got serious pedigree.

Started at Enyimba before tearing it up at Flash Flamingoes and Iwuanyanwu National. Then he conquered Europe, becoming an absolute hero at Brondby in Denmark and Fenerbahce in Turkey.

But it's the international honours that really stand out - African Cup of Nations winner in 1994, played at Nigeria's first-ever World Cup that same year, and was one of the experienced heads who guided the Dream Team to Olympic GOLD in '96.
