Akure-based Sunshine Stars are through to the semifinal of the NPFL LaLiga Under-15 tournament in Ikenne.

Sunshine defeated neighbours Shooting Stars 1-0 to book their spot in the last four in a keenly contested encounter on Saturday morning.

Precious Olaniyo was the day's hero for the Stars after he netted the only goal to the game to fire Sunshine to glory.

The game's only goal came courtesy of a counter-attacking move in the first half finished by the alert Olaniyo.

Sunshine came closest in breaking the deadlock but were stopped on their stride by the post which saved Shooting’s blushes.

However, the Akure Gunners finally got the breakthrough at the half-hour mark via a beautifully executed counter-attacking move.

Olaniyo was on hand to finish off a good move to put the Akure side in front heading into the break.

Mees Palace are the first team to reach the last four at the LaLiga U-15s.

In the second half, it was more of the same but both sides were unable to add to the scoreline as Sunshine held on for the decisive win.

With their win, Sunshine claimed regional bragging rights while joining Plateau United as the teams to book their tickets to the last four.
