Eguavoen made the comments after watching the semifinals of the NPFL LaLiga U-15 Promises live at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Tuesday.
There were nine goals in two of the semifinals as Plateau United’s Mees Palace and Beyond Limits of Remo Stars booked the tickets to 2023 final.
Mees defeated Sunshine Stars 2-1 in the first semifinal of the day while Beyond Limits were too good for their counterparts El Kanemi Warriors in the second semifinal of the day.
In what was a six-goal thriller, the home side, Remo, sailed into the final following a 4-2 victory against the Warriors.
Eguavoen impressed with NPFL LaLiga kids
After watching the kids display their skills in the two highly entertaining semis, the former Super Eagles boss was impressed.
Speaking after the games, Eguavoen, who managed the Super Eagles at the last AFCON in Cameroon, noted that he must have missed a lot from the competition following what he saw from all the teams in the two semifinal matches.
“I will say I am very impressed likewise every person here,” the former Super Eagles boss said.
“I was seated up there with a couple of football enthusiasts, especially the proprietor of Remo Stars Honorable Soname and of course Paul Aigbogun. We were analysing the games, I think I have missed from day one.”
“So, from what I saw today and the four semifinalists, I think the two teams (Plateau and Remo) that went through deserved to go through.”
“But having said that, the game wasn't that bad. I would say kudos also to El Kanemi (Warriors) because they pushed Remo to the limit and the earlier game as well was quite interesting.”
“From what I have seen so far here, I think the future is very bright for the kids but the most important thing I saw was that they look very young which means they are truly under-15s. So, there is a bright future for them. I am quite impressed.”
