Nigerian giant Tolu Arokodare boxes Super Eagles duo to submission
Nigerian freak Toluwalase Arokodare stole the spotlight after Genk put his compatriots Chidera Ejuke, Alhassan Yusuf and George Ilenikhena to the sword on boxing day.
Arokodare came off the bench to score a brace to inspire Genk to a convincing 3-0 thrashing of champions Royal Antwerp on Tuesday evening.
Arokodare outshines compatriots
All four players started on the bench for their respective clubs before the giant striker, Arokodare, came off the bench to claim a super-sub award.
With the home side leading 1-0 thanks to a first-half strike from Alieu Fadera, Genk replaced Christopher Bonsu Baah with their Nigerian giant in the 69th minute.
Six minutes later, the substitution paid off as the 23-year-old doubled Genk’s advantage after being set up by another Nigerian Collins Sor.
Arokodare was not done as he struck again two minutes later for his second and Genk’s third to ultimately wrap up a brilliant boxing day outing for his side.
The trio all Ejuke, Yusuf and Ilenikhena watched helplessly as Toluwase ended their run of six matches without defeat across all competitions.
Arokodare, who stands at 6ft 6in have now scored six goals with two assists in 19 matches this season for Genk in the Jupiler.
On the table, Arokodare’s goals have now taken Genk to fourth, two points clear of Royal Antwerp, who are two places behind.
