After defeating the Democratic Republic of Congo 1-0 in the quarterfinal, South Africa guaranteed a spot in the round of four.

South Africa has won four straight games after losing 1-0 to hosts Egypt in the first round.

They defeated Tanzania 1-0 and Sierra Leone 4-1 in their consecutive group stage victories.

After a 1-1 draw with Zambia, they defeated DR Congo 1-0 in extra time to advance to the quarterfinals.

In their last three matches, South Africa has won once on penalties, Nigeria has won once in regular play, and the other game resulted in a draw.

South Africa and Nigeria will play a heavyweight match at the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2025, on Thursday at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia.

The Flying Eagles now based in Ismailia for their knockout stage preparations up match will take on South Africa on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
