Nigeria are celebrating a comprehensive victory over Algeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations which sealed their place in the semi-final and the players are now receiving a number of promises.

The Super Eagles outclassed the Desert Foxes, winning 2-0 in a match in which they were totally dominant and should have scored more, as Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams scored in the second half to send them to the semi-final, where they will meet hosts Morocco.

With their place in the semis secured, Nigerian billionaire Abdul Samad Rabiu has promised the team $500,000 (64.5 million) if they beat Morocco and make it to a second straight final and $1 million (Ksh129 million) if they are crowned African champions for the first time since 2013.

Victor Boniface Makes Bold Promise

However, that does not come close to what has been promised by Nigeria striker Victor Boniface who did not make the AFCON 2025 squad due to an injury.

The forward, who now plays for Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, sensationally promised each player a luxury car worth at least Ksh17 million.

“For the good game today, I promise all the players 1 G wagon each,” the former Bayer Leverkusen hitman posted on X.

That is a massive promise that fans are not sure the striker will honour given the cost involved. As per Eleven Motors, the price of a Mercedes G Wagon in Kenya ranges from Ksh17 million to Ksh25 million, depending on the model year and condition.

Can The Bremen Striker Afford the Mega Gifts?

With Nigeria taking a squad of 28 to AFCON 2025, Boniface would be required to fork out at least Ksh476 million on the playing unit alone, a figure that looks impossible.

For a player, whose net worth is $5 million (Ksh645 million) as per Afrik-Foot, splashing Ksh476 million ($3.69 million) on gifts to his teammates looks a stretch and this could just be one of his many social media stunts.

While it is not certain how Boniface would pay for his mega gifts, what is certain is that the Super Eagles are assured at least $2.5 million (Ksh322 million) which is the prize money for the teams that made it to the semi-finals at AFCON 2025.
