In Game 5 of the NBA Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder triumphed over the Indiana Pacers with a score of 120-109, bringing them one victory closer to securing the franchise's inaugural championship.
However, it was not Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the league MVP, who carried the team in Game 5.
It was instead Jalen Williams, a forward, who exploded for 40 points, making 14 of 25 field goal attempts and converting 9 of 12 free throws. Williams scored a career-high of 41 points.
Williams entered into a rarefied category by notching three consecutive Finals games with 25 or more points.
Thunder 1 win away from title
Despite this, Gilgeous-Alexander managed to perform well, amassing 31 points, 10 assists, and four blocks with a shooting record of 9 out of 21 and free throw success of 13 out of 14.

With four rebounds, four assists, and two steals to go along with 18 bench points on 8-of-14 shooting, T.J. McConnell came close to hero status.
Obi Toppin contributed 12 points off the bench, while Aaron Nesmith and Myles Turner scored 14 and 13 points, respectively. They were among the other Pacers players who reached double digits in scoring.
