Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has confirmed he is in negotiations with the club over a new contract as he wants to continue with Chelsea.
The 38-year-old has been a stalwart in Chelsea’s defence, and even with all the signings the club have made in defence, the Blues still want the Brazilian to continue.
What Thiago said
In a conversation with ESPN, Thiago Silva revealed that he is negotiating with the club for a contract extension.
Silva, whose contract expires in the summer, has said that the club has offered him a new contract, and he is inclined to agree as he wants to continue with the club.
The Brazilian is the team's oldest player, and despite an infusion of fresh, youthful arrivals, Silva has maintained his prominence. The centre-back is aware of the rebuild going on at Chelsea and has admitted the club needs him.

Thiago Silva for Chelsea
Thiago Silva joined Chelsea in the summer of 2020 and has helped the club win the UEFA Champions League, Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup titles.
Chelsea have signed a number of young defenders since Silva joined the club, and even an experienced one like Kalidou Koulibaly, but none of them have managed to displace the 38-year-old.
