My conscience is clear - Jenni Hermoso reacts after being omitted from Spain's Women's Euro 2025 squad
Spain’s all-time leading goalscorer, Jenni Hermoso, has responded with defiance and dignity after being left out of La Roja’s squad for the 2025 UEFA Women’s Euros in Switzerland.
The 35-year-old, who now plays for Tigres UANL in Mexico, played a vital role in Spain’s historic 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup triumph, scoring three goals during the tournament.
However, her absence from the European Championship squad has reignited public discourse, especially following her ongoing fallout with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in the aftermath of the controversial non-consensual kiss by former RFEF president Luis Rubiales.
What Hermoso said
Hermoso, who has scored 57 international goals in 123 caps, took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express her disappointment and her resolve.
“I truly have a clear conscience, especially when I remove environments with such bad energy from my life,” she wrote.
“Manage? That’s what others should learn to do; that part is too big for them. I tweet because it’s the only way I have left to have a ‘conversation’.
Let them focus on making Spain European champions, although they would do it alone, and probably much better," she said.

Hermoso’s exclusion has sparked debate among fans and pundits, many of whom feel the veteran forward still has much to offer on the international stage. Regardless of her absence, Spain will enter the tournament among the favourites, boasting a midfield stacked with talent and recent success.
