More Chelsea upheaval: Blues keen to sell flop and three others in January
Chelsea are reportedly considering offloading several fringe players in the upcoming January transfer window, with Mykhailo Mudryk and others potentially facing the axe.
Mudryk's struggles and potential departure
Since his £88.5 million transfer (£62m plus add-ons) from Shakhtar Donetsk, the Ukraine winger has struggled to secure consistent playing time at Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old has found it difficult to adapt to new manager Enzo Maresca's system and seemingly fallen down the pecking order after Jadon Sancho’s arrival on deadline day, thus reportedly leading to a desire for more regular playing time.
According to TEAMtalk, the West London club are open to the possibility of offloading Mudryk in January, and there is interest in his services from both Premier League and European clubs.
Bayern Munich, for example, previously explored a loan move for the winger but have since cooled their interest due to Vincent Kompany replacing Thomas Tuchel.
Marseille emerge as potential destination
French side Marseille have emerged as a potential destination for Mudryk, as per TEAMtalk, with manager, Roberto de Zerbi, a known admirer of the winger who believes he can help him rediscover his best form.
A loan move is the most likely scenario for the wide attacker in January, as clubs typically hesitate to make significant investments during the mid-season window.
Other players on the chopping block
Mudryk is not the only player Chelsea are considering selling in January, with the club aiming to reduce their wage bill and generate revenue to offset their previous spending.
Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, and Ben Chilwell are among the players who could be put on the market if suitable offers arrive, and Ipswich and Crystal Palace have reportedly shown interest in the England international.
What comes next?
Chelsea will look to secure their second consecutive Premier League win when they face West Ham United on Saturday lunchtime.
